Abstract:
An animal trial was planned in Large White Yorkshire piglets at the age of 10 weeks. A total of 18 piglets were divided into three treatment groups of 6 animals each in a completely randomized design. Standard managemental practices were employed during 12 weeks experimental period. Conventional practical control swine diet (T1) was formulated as per standard specifications. In the test diets, the tamarind seed kernel was included at two different levels (T2:05% and T3:10%). Feed was measured each time and offered. Individual body weights of pigs were recorded at regular intervals. At end of the trial, gross returns (Rs.) were more in test groups than control group. Trial concluded to include up to 10% tamarind seed kernel in Yorkshire pigs.
