Maize, a versatile crop with a wide range of uses, holds a pivotal position in ensuring global food security. The key to maximizing maize production lies in adopting effective planting methods, where the use of maize planters plays a significant role in determining crop establishment and overall yield. As precision agriculture continues to evolve, the performance evaluation of planters plays a critical role in optimizing crop production processes. This paper provides a review of the existing literature on the methodologies, metrics, and technologies employed in the performance evaluation of planters. By assessing the current state of research, this paper aims to identify key factors influencing planter performance, challenges faced, and propose recommendations for future research directions.
