Abstract:
The present study was under taken with view to know the genetic variability, correlation coefficient, path analysis, genetic diversity of fifty different genotypes of Pearl millet. Observations were recorded for eleven different characters of Pearl millet. It is well said that, Variability and genetic diversity are the mother of selection” for genotypes to be selected in any breeding programme. For determination the available variability, a variety of statistical approaches are available. The GCV and PCV was be used to estimate the amount of variability in a population for a given character. Breeding method for crop improvement selected based on variability parameters, whereas nature of yield & yield contributing traits gets information from Correlation and Path Analysis. Mahalanobis (1936) and Rao (1952) clustering pattern help hybridization programme for genetically diverse parents.
