Life table of ladybird beetle, Cheilomenes sexmaculata (Fabricius) on cotton aphid

Abstract:
A study was carried out to construct the life table of ladybird beetle, Cheilomenes sexmaculata at Department of Agricultural Entomology, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat) during the year 2019-20. On the basis of the observation made for the life table studies of C. sexmaculata reared on cotton aphid. Aphis gossypii, the net reproductive rate (R0) 129.47 was obtained with a mean length of generation (T) 26.81 days. The intrinsic rate of natural increase in numbers (rm) was 0.1871 females per female per day and the population would be able to multiply 3.7034 times per week. The hypothetical F2 females were worked out to be 16,763.69. The life expectancy of C. sexmaculata declined gradually with the advancement of development. The life expectancy of newly deposited eggs was 10.70 days.
