Assessment of the satisfaction level of Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana (DSY): Health promoting scheme among the anganwadi children beneficiaries of Gujarat state

Abstract:
Milk Production in India during the year 2018-19 is around 187,749 tonnes and in Gujarat is around 14,493 tonnes. Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana is an initiative of Government of Gujarat (GoG) to tackle malnourishment prevailing in children and pregnant and lactating Women of Gujarat. The scheme is implemented by Tribal Development Department (TSP), Education Department (MDM) and Women and Child Development Department (ICDS) of Government of Gujarat. This scheme was launched in year 2007. Under this Yojana Double Tonned Pasteurized Homogenized Fortified Flavoured Milk is supplied to approx. 22 lacs children and 2.5 lacs Pregnant and lactating women covering 83 talukas of Gujarat, while approx. 12000 schools and 16000 angwanwadis are covered. hrough this scheme Government of Gujarat provides school going children 200 ml milk 5 days a week, while children of anganwadis are provided with 100 ml milk 5 days a week. Pregnant & Lactating women gets 200 ml milk for 2 days in a week. Under Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana, Government of Gujarat through Dairy co-operative of Gujarat is supplying the milk in 4 different flavors. Gujarat has been a pioneering state in the field of dairy development. There are various nutrition interventions in Gujarat focused on children, adolescent girls and expectant mothers. Some important schemes like Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana (DSY), Take Home Ration (THR), etc. is jointly implemented by Government of Gujarat and Dairy Cooperatives. It is aimed for improving the health of children in the state Government of Gujarat. The main objective of this scheme is to assess the satisfaction level of health promoting schemes Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana (DSY), among the beneficiaries as well as arrest malnutrition among children. The present study was conducted on 3000 Anganwadi beneficiaries/parents receiving Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana (DSY). This research paper highlights the major Health promoting schemes jointly offered by Government of Gujarat to assess the satisfaction level of health promoting schemes Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana (DSY), among the Anganwadi beneficiaries/parents of Gujarat State further this paper also highlights the challenges and some fruitful suggestions are also pointed to improve the schemes to get better result.
