Abstract:
A total of six fungicides namely: Carbendazim, Captan, Propineb, Mancozeb Thiophanate Methyl, Tebuconazole, five botanicals viz Azadirachta indica extract Allium sativum extract Alliun cepa extract, Zingiber officinale extract, Ocimum sanctum extract and the five bioagents viz, Trichoderma harzianum, Trichoderma hamatum, Trichoderma viride Trichoderma koningii, Pseudomonas were evaluated in vitro against Seed Borne mycoflora of naturally infected seeds of Cowpea.Among the seed treatment with fungicide Carbendazim (0.2%) was found significantly superior in reducing seed borne mycoflora (79.66%), increasing seed germination (20.51%) and seedling vigour (52.02%), followed by Captan (0.2%) and Propineb (0.2%). Among the bioagents, Trichoderma viride (0.6%) recorded the lowest seed mycoflora (53.45%), higher seed germination (14.47%) and seedling vigour (41.77%), followed by T. harzianum (0.6%) and T. hamatum (0.6%). Out of five botanicals, Azadirachta indica leaves extract (5%) was found more effective in reducing seed mycoflora (45.76%), increasing seed germination (12.00%) and seedling vigour (31.39%), followed by Allium sativum extract (5%) and Allium cepa extract (5%).
