Abstract:
QC1632915028UE Bitter gourd (Momordica charantia L.) belongs to the family Cucurbitaceae. It has significant prominence in providing basic nutritional and medicinal values. It contains various bioactive components including antioxidants, catechin, gallic acid, genetistic acid, chlorogenic acid, polysaccharides, triterpenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids, quinine etc., also good source of vitamins and minerals. The present review paper has presents the pharmacological effects like antidiabetic, antibacterial, anti-HIV, Anti-cancer and Anti-tumor properties, and antioxidant acivities an insight to understand the mechanism of action.
