Abstract: A field experiment was conducted at the Instructional-cum-Research (ICR) farm of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat in 2013-14. The experiment was laid down in Factorial Randomized Block Design with three replications. The treatments consisted of four irrigation levels viz., one irrigation at flowering stage, two irrigations at flowering and siliqua formation stages, three irrigations at 20 DAS, flowering and siliqua formation stages and rainfed (no irrigation) with four varieties viz., M27, TS 38, TS 46 and TS 67. The results of the experiment revealed that three irrigations at 20 DAS, flowering and siliqua formation stages performed better than those with one irrigation at flowering and rainfed crop in response to physiological traits and biological yield. The variety TS 67 being at par with TS 38 recorded significantly higher growth traits and ultimately yield than those of M 27 and TS 46.
