Abstract:
Terminalia pallida Brandis a Combretaceae species, IUCN red-listed medicinally important semi-evergreen tree an endemic to Seshachalam hill ranges. The leaf, bark and fruits of this tree species possess a number of medicinal properties and used to treat various diseases by local people. The present study was aimed to analyze mineral contents by ICP-OES method, screening phytochemicals with polar solvents and no-polar solvents and synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The results revealed that the selected tree species is a good source for minerals, phytochemicals such as proteins, reducing sugars, alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, lactones, phenols, saponins, steroids, tannins and triterpenoids hence this endemic tree species is able to synthesize effective AgNPs.
