Abstract:
An experiment was conducted in randomized block design with three replications during kharif, 2016 at the experimental farm of School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development, Medziphema campus, Nagaland university to study the character association and path analysis among twenty one genotypes of sesame. Observations were recorded for various yield contributing traits. Correlation analysis revealed significant positive association of seed yield per plant with days to 80 per cent maturity, number of capsules per plant and 1000 seed weight. Path coefficient analysis revealed that strover yield, days to 80 per cent maturity, seeds per capsule and number of secondary branches per plant exerted positive direct effect on seed yield. Thus strover yield, days to 80 per cent maturity, seeds per capsule and number of secondary branches per plant may be good selection criteria for seed yield per plant.
