Synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of 3-acetylindole derivatives as anti-microbial and antioxidant agents

Abstract:
A series of 3-Acetylindole derivatives were synthesized by a single step process by reacting 3-acetylindole and benzaldehyde. The purity and structure confirmation of the synthesized compounds were done by TLC and 1H-NMR. The compounds were evaluated for anti-microbial and antioxidant activity. The test compound 1c, 1d, 1f, 1g, 1k and 1l showed highest anti-microbial activity and 1f, 1g, 1h and 1l show the appropriate amount of antioxidant activity.
