Extent of people’s participation in different activities at various stages in integrated watershed management programmed

Abstract:
The study was carried out during 2013-14 in the Janjgir-chama district of Chhattisgarh state. This study aims to assess information on extent of people’s participation in integrated watershed management’s programme. This study was conducted in selected 12 villages identified from 2 blocks of Janjgir-chama district and the sample comprised of 120 farmers. The data collection was done by structured interview schedule and through personal interview. The findings related to the extent of people’s participation in integrated watershed management programme indicated that at programme initial stage; respondents had 69.58 per cent maximum people’s participation index score. At planning stage, respondents had 66.96 per cent maximum people’s participation index score. At implementation stage, respondents had 77.01 per cent maximum people’s participation index score. At maintenance stage, respondents had 72.08 per cent maximum people’s participation index score. At evaluation stage, respondents had 60.03 per cent maximum people’s participation index score. At last it was concluded that maximum participation of respondents were found in implementation stage which was 77.01 per cent with minimum participation gap (22.99%). While 69.13 per cent overall people’s participation found with 30.87 per cent participation gap in the study area.
