Effect Of Roflumilast On Clinical Features In Patients With Severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Abstract:
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the fifth cause of morbidity and mortality in the developed world and represents a substantial economic and social burden.Phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) inhibitors are a new class of anti-inflammatory drugs that have shown efficacy in preclinical and clinical studies in patients with COPD.This review is focused on the indication that roflumilast, which offers a unique anti-inflammatory mechanism of action in an oral formulation, is effective in decreasing symptoms associated with COPD stage III, and may possess clinical potential in the management of the disease.There were 151 participants in the study. Verification of the diagnosis and its formulation confirmed by the order MH of Ukraine № 128 from 19.03.2007 “On the approval of medical care clinical protocols for «Pulmonology» [14]. Clinical examination was conducted including 151 patients before and at 30, 90 and 180 days of treatment with roflumilast.
