Abstract:
Precision farming (PF) is a farming management approach that involves observing, measuring, and reacting to inter- and intra-field variability in agricultural fields. Because variability includes both a geographical and temporal component, statistical/computational treatments are extremely complicated. The ability to define a Decision Support System (DSS) for whole farm management with the goal of optimising returns on inputs and protecting resources will be the holy grail of precision agriculture research. Prescription farming is also known as Variable Rate Technology (VRT) and Site Specific Crop Management (SSCM). It is regarded as the agricultural system of the twenty-first century because it represents a better balance of reliance on traditional knowledge, information, and management-intensive technologies.
