Abstract:
This review synthesizes recent evaluation tools employed to assess ecotourism potential, highlighting their dual contribution to environmental conservation and socio economic development. Traditional survey methods—questionnaires, interviews, and mixed method designs—remain foundational for capturing tourist satisfaction, community perceptions, and stakeholder insights. The Delphi technique facilitates expert consensus on sustainability criteria, proving valuable in early stage indicator development across diverse contexts. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) offers a robust multi criteria decision making framework for weighting ecological, cultural, and infrastructural factors, widely applied in site selection studies. GIS based spatial analysis integrates these weighted criteria to generate suitability maps, enhancing the precision of ecotourism zoning. The convergence of qualitative, quantitative, and geospatial approaches yields comprehensive, context specific assessments, underscoring the need for tailored methodological blends in sustainable ecotourism planning.
