Abstract:
Strawberry is an important crop belonging to the family Rosaceae. We had studied the effect of blue and red-light spectral ratio along with different PAR levels on the growth, quality, and yield of strawberries under the indoor vertical farming unit. We have taken 5 treatment combinations of light with different PAR levels for the experiment. We set up the LED lighting for an indoor farm. The light spectral treatments given to the plants were T1-Blue light: Red light (1:2.5) with PAR (180-200 (?mol?m-2s-1) T2-Blue light: Red light (1:2.5) with PAR (220-400) ?mol?m-2s-1), T3-Blue light: Red light (1:2) with PAR (240 ?mol?m-2s-1), T4-Blue light: Red light (1:3) with PAR (240 ?mol?m-2s-1), T5 Blue light: Red light (1:5) with PAR (240 ?mol?m-2s-1). Among all the treatments T5 Blue light: Red light (1:5) with PAR (240 ?mol?m-2s-1) has shown plant height has recorded the highest plant height (23.37cm), number of leaves (21.75) and number of runners as (8) Reproductive parameters were also highest in treatment T5 Blue light: Red light (1:5) with PAR (240 ?mol?m-2s-1) showing the maximum number of fruits per plant (7), fruit length (4.76), fruit firmness (4.09), total soluble solids (9.6) and yield per plant (20.78).
