Correlation between farmers’ profile and their livelihood status

Abstract:
The present study was conducted in Sengaon, Hingoli, Loha and Kandhar tehsils of Hingoli and Nanded districts from Marathwada region of Maharashtra State in 2024-2025, with an objective to study “Correlation between farmers’ profile and their livelihood status”. Three villages from each tehsil were selected. Total twelve villages were selected for research study. Ten farmers were selected from each village and hence 120 farmers were selected for the study. Ex-post-facto research design was used for the study. A well-structured questionnaire designed for study was used for collecting the data from farmers through personal interview method. The data collection from farmers were edited, tabulated and analysed using suitable statistical tools like Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard deviation, Coefficient of correlation and Multiple regression analysis. There was dependent variable namely “Livelihood status”. There were 12 independent variables viz., Age, Education, Family size, Cropping pattern, Sources of irrigation, Income generating activities, Expenditure Pattern, Technology utilization, Urban contact, Extension contact, Economic motivation and Achievement motivation. By studying the profile of the farmers, age, education, family size, cropping pattern, income generating activities and expenditure pattern had a positive and significant relationship with livelihood status. Furthermore, sources of irrigation, technology utilization, urban contact, extension contact, economic motivation and achievement motivation exhibited a positive and highly significant relationship with farmers' livelihood status.
