Studies on fibrous osteodystrophy in urban settings: A retrospective study in goats

Abstract:
During the period of 6 months study from September 2024 to February 2025 a total of 40 goats were reported with the clinical signs of bilateral swelling of the mandibular region, protrusion of tongue, inability to swallow and ruminate, inability to complete closure of the jaw and other signs like bowing of legs, weakness in legs and change in the gait, change in the standing posture, there was no elevation of temperature, and history of chronicity of the condition from 15-20 days and the condition progressed slowly, the goats were fed with exclusive wheat bran and other bran that is having high phosphorous content leading to secondary hypophosphatemia in goats.
