Abstract:
This study provides a systematic documentation of medicinal plants traditionally used in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, with emphasis on the Chitrakoot region. Ethnobotanical data were collected through field surveys, interviews with local healers and elders, and guided plant walks conducted between 2024 and 2025. A total of 46 plant species were recorded, along with information on vernacular names, therapeutic applications, plant parts used, and preparation techniques for both human and livestock ailments. The findings highlight the region’s rich indigenous knowledge, ongoing threats to traditional practices, and the need for conservation and pharmacological validation.
