Abstract:
Appropriate organic nutrient management practices play a decisive role in meeting the adequate nutrient supply in balanced proportion and sustaining better growth and yield of nutrient exhaustive crops like broccoli in organic crop production. Limited scale cultivation of broccoli and other cole crops are common in households with limited land availability with low-cost polyhouse structures. To identify the suitable nutrient management practices of organically grown broccoli, a greenhouse-based pot experiment was undertaken at College of Horticulture, Bermiok, CAU, Imphal, Namchi, Sikkim during 2024-25 to study the impact of organic nutrient management practices on growth and yield of broccoli in greenhouse conditions in mid-hills of Sikkim. Results indicate the application of Compost @ 1.08 kg/pot along with 5% Panchgavya foliar spray at 30 and 45 days after transplanting markedly improved various attributes of growth (plant height, leaf length, leaf width and stem diameter) and yield (number of spears per plant and curd diameter), thus ultimately translating into higher yields (biological and curd yields) of broccoli. Thus, application of Compost @ 1.08 kg/pot along with 5% Panchgavya foliar spray at 30 and 45 days after transplanting shows promising effect in enhancing growth and yield of organic cultivation of broccoli under greenhouse conditions in mid-hills of Sikkim.
