Abstract:

The Salivary Mucocele is understood as the collection of mucus resulting from trauma to the excretory or salivary duct obstruction. A case around 4 years old indigenous breed male intact dog was presented to the Department of Surgery and Radiology, College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara with a history of swelling in the neck region since 3 months with unknown cause. On clinical examination, dog was found with normal body temperature, pink mucous membrane, painless fluctuant swelling in the ventral aspect of cervical region which was suspected to be a salivary mucocele. On contrast radiography, salivary mucocele was confirmed. The mucocele was surgically excised, of which histological examination ruled out neoplastic change. Patient responded to the procedure uneventfully with no recurrence.
