Estimation of minerals in Saraca asoca leaves and Trigonella foenum graecum seeds by ICP-OES

Abstract:
Microminerals are essential for reproduction and production of animals. Essential minerals like calcium, phosphorus, copper, zinc, iron and selenium were estimated in Saraca asoca leaves and Trigonella foenum greacum seeds. Calcium and phosphorus were estimated by titration method and Cu, Zn, Fe, Se were estimated by ICP-OES method in ICP-OES iCAP 7000 Plus Series (Thermo fisher Scientific). The optimal instrumental conditions were flame type was Argon gas and wavelength required for Iron, Zinc, Copper and Selenium are 324.754 nm, 213.856 nm, 259.940 nm and 196.026nm respectively. The concentration of minerals estimated in Saraca asoca leaves showed total ash (7.28%), Calcium (1.364%), Phosphorus (0.328%), Iron (513ppm), Zinc (224 ppm), Copper (11.12 ppm) and Selenium (0.14 ppm). The mineral concentration estimated in Trigonella foenum graecum seeds showed total ash (3.75%), Calcium (0.437%), Phosphorus (0.439%), Iron (535 ppm), Zinc (250 ppm), Copper (20.32 ppm) and Selenium (0.63 ppm).
