Abstract:
The study was conducted on 60 pre-hatched liver of Chabro chicken embryo from the 6th to the 21st days of incubation to elucidate the different developmental stage and genesis of biometrical data. The lobes of the liver were undivided at 6th days of incubation. A deep cranial and shallow caudal groove divided the two lobes of liver from 7th day of incubation. A transverse fissure dividing the left lobe into dorsal and ventral parts became distinct from 15th days of incubation. Each lobe had dorsal and ventral surface and medial, lateral and caudal borders. The dorsal surface was related with heart, proventriculus, gizzard, spleen and duodenum, whereas, ventral surface was covered by sternum and related with lungs and mesonephros. The right lobe was close in contact with mesonephros, whereas, stomach was placed on left side between left lobe of liver and left mesonephros. The gall bladder was visible on visceral surface of the right lobe from 13th days of incubation. The biometrical data showed that the length of left lobe was higher than the length of right lobe, whereas, width and thickness of the right lobe were more than left lobe. However, upto 9th day of incubation the left lobe was thicker than right lobe. The weight of the liver increased about three times from 11 to 13 days of incubation.
