Abstract:
UASD Cry-1Ac Bt-cotton event-78 is a new event developed under the background of G. hirsutum L., RAH-100. In the present study three F2 populations of the crosses viz, I-UASDBt-78 × DHS-29, (intra-hirsutum cross), II-UASDBt-78 × Suvin, (inter-specific cross) and III-Suvin × UASDBt-78 (reciprocal of inter-specific cross) were evaluated for identification of superior Bt-transgressive segregants during the kharif-2021 at Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad. The highest number of transgressive segregants for seed cotton yield were identified from cross-II (25), followed by cross-III (17), and cross-I (12). F2-418 from the cross-II is the most promising transgressive segregant with significantly higher seed cotton yield of 152.4 g/plant with 47.55% increase over the better parent (100.3g/plant) and 144.27% increase over the zonal check (62.39 g/plant). F2-56 (151.74 g/plant) is the ideal transgressive segregant from cross-I with 46.34% yield gain over the better parent (103.69g/plant) and 138.54% increase over the zonal check. F2-54 (140.08 g/plant) is the promising transgressive segregant identified in the cross-III with 35.92 percent yield advantage over the better parent (103.59g/plant) and 123.38% yield advantage the over zonal check.
