Abstract:
Biological control, often known as biocontrol, is a way of using other organisms to control pests such as insects, mites, weeds, and plant diseases. It is a crucial part of IPM programmes. Ants are a common terrestrial and arboreal aggressive forager and consequently, several studies have been conducted on the foraging behavior of various ant species so that they can be used as biocontrol agents. Predation and Physical deterrent of ants keep pests away. They play an important role in biological control and have successfully used to control the major insect pests of cashew, mango, banana, citrus and many other crops.
