Abstract:The present study was undertaken in Akola district of Vidarbha region. The rabi onion was selected for the present study. Two tehsils from Akola district were selected for the present study. From each tehsil two villages were selected, Total 60 farmers were selected. The scheduled was designed for primary data collection keeping in view the objectives of the study. The data pertains for the year 2022-23. To accomplish the objectives, of the present study simple tabular analysis was used. The economics of onion production was calculated by using standard cost concept.
In broadcasted onion cultivation nuclear family concept was predominantly observed. The average family size of transplanted method of cultivators was 6 members in broadcasting method of cultivation 3.33 per cent of farmers are illiterate and rest of them are educated The cropping intensity was worked out to 168.04 per cent in rabi season highest area was sown under onion crop i.e. 16.10 per cent.
Broadcasting method of onion cultivation Cost “A” Rs 68224.90 i.e. 59.21 per cent of the total cost. The cost B was worked out to be Rs. 96219.83. The per hectare cost of cultivation of onion was Rs. 104328.22/-. The per quintal cost of production was Rs. 433.24. The highest input output ratio at cost 'C' ' was recorded in broadcasting method of cultivation i.e. 1:1.92.
