Abstract:
Antibiosis mechanism of resistance was studied against brown planthopper in twelve genotypes along with two checks viz., PTB 33 (resistant check) and TN 1 (susceptible check). The percent nymphal survival of BPH on the rice genotypes including resistant and susceptible checks varied from 32.00 to 96.00 percent. Among the genotypes, PTB 18 recorded 48.00 percent highest nymphal survival followed by MTU2837-31-1-1-1 with 50.67 percent. The nymphal duration ranged from 11.33 to 21.33 days. Among the genotypes, significantly prolonged nymphal duration was observed in PTB 18 (20.33 days) followed by MTU2837-31-1-1-1 with 20.00 days. The lowest growth index value of 2.32 was observed in the genotype PTB 18 followed by MTU2837-31-1-1-1 (2.54) and Cul M4 (2.91).
