Abstract:
Respiratory disorders are among the most widespread health conditions, affecting individuals of all ages worldwide. Chronic respiratory diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma, contribute significantly to global morbidity and mortality. Addressing and managing respiratory health continues to be a critical public health challenge. The introduction of the inhaler system revolutionized the management of respiratory diseases. Inhalers deliver medication directly to the airways, which allows for quicker action and lower dosages compared to oral medications. The Next Generation Impactor (NGI) is a sophisticated instrument specifically designed to characterize the aerodynamic properties of particles emitted from inhalers. By analysing the size distribution and velocity of these particles, researchers can optimize inhaler design, improve drug delivery efficiency. To underscore the importance of NGI in the pharmaceutical sector, this paper will focus on its operational methods, performance limitations, and technical requirements.
