Abstract:
A six year old, female chow chow dog was presented to State Institute of Animal Health, Tanuku with history of prominent lateral and frontal folds which caused the total entropion in both eyes. On ophthalmic examination, it was apparent that the extensive facial folds were contributing to entropion. A rhytidectomy (facelift) was performed to address excessive folds. Preoperative assessment determined the amount and shape of skin to be removed by elevating the eyelids to their desired postoperative position. The laceration was closed with U- shaped, simple interrupted suture by using polyamide (Size No; 1). After ablation of the facial folds the entropion of the upper eyelid was corrected, and for the entropion of the lower eyelid we performed Celsus-Hotz procedure. The wound is closed with polyamide 4-0 by simple interrupted suture pattern. The dog was quite comfortable, showed no signs of blepharospasm or discharge, and had a complete blink bilaterally. The owner was pleased with the cosmetic appearance.
