Abstract:
Sericulture, the cultivation of silkworms (Bombyx mori L.) using mulberry (Morus spp.) leaves, is a significant agricultural practice, particularly in India, the world's second-largest producer of silk. The quality and quantity of mulberry leaves directly influence the rearing success and cocoon production. This study investigates the effects of foliar nutrient spray, 'Surya Kiran,' on the larval weight of silkworms during their fifth instar. Various concentrations (0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, and 2.5%) were tested against control groups. Results indicated that 'Surya Kiran' significantly enhanced larval weight, with the 2.0% concentration showing the best performance. These findings suggest that foliar sprays can optimize mulberry leaf quality, thus improving silkworm rearing outcomes.
