Abstract:
The present investigation, “Effect of Phosphorus Levels and Their Time and Method of Application on Growth and yield of Soybean in Vertisols of Chhattisgarh”, was carried out at Instructional Farm, IGKV, Raipur, C.G. during kharif 2005-06 and 2006-07. The soil of the experimental field was clayey in texture (Vertisols) with low nitrogen, medium phosphorus and organic carbon and high potassium. Soybean cv. JS-335 was taken during Kharif 2005 and 2006. Ten treatments consisting two main plots of phosphorus levels (40 kg and 60 kg P2O5 ha-1) and five sub plots of time and method of phosphorus management (broadcast, drilling, Two splits (50% basal as drilling + 50% side dressing at 30 DAS), Two splits (50% basal as drilling after blending with FYM + 50% side dressing at 30 DAS after blending with FYM) and three splits (50% basal as drilling + 25% side dressing at 30 DAS+ 25% side dressing as 50 DAS)) were laid out in split plot design with three replications. The results revealed that P level of 60 kg P2O5 ha-1 and two splits of P application (blended with FYM) produced significantly higher growth parameters viz., plant height, number of branches plant-1, number and dry weight of nodules, dry matter accumulation (DMA), C.G.R., R.G.R, leaf area, leaf area index, straw and seed yield of soybean.
