Abstract:
A randomized block design field experiment was conducted at the Jute Research Station, Katihar for three consecutive years (2017-2019) with the olitorious jute variety JRO-204, using seven treatments viz., carbendazim, Propineb. Tebuconazole, Difenoconazole, Hexaconazole, Tricyclazole + Propiconazole and Azoxystrobin + Difenoconazole and one control, with the aim of evaluating the efficacy of various fungicides and combinations against Macrophomina phaseolina. The experiment was conducted using plot size of 4m x 5m, with a row spacing of 30 cm and recommended dose of fertilizer N:P:K @ 80:40:40 kg/ha. Results showed that seed treatment with tebuconazole @0.15% and Azoxystrobin + difenoconazole @ 0.1% as well as the spraying the same fungicides at the same concentration after 45 days of sowing, resulted in no seedling blight infection and minimum incidence of stem rot and root rot and reported higher jute fibre yield. This was followed by jute seed treatment with carbendazim and spraying of the same fungicide after 45 days of sowing. The highest yield (28.17 q/ha) was observed in the Tebuconazole treatment of seed and their foliar spraying after 45 days of sowing.
