The relative abundance of insect pollinators/visitors in Niger (Guizotia abyssinica) crop

Abstract:
An experiment was conducted at experimental farm of PC Unit Sesame and Niger, College of Agriculture, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, during kharif 2021 and 2022. A total of 11 species of insect pollinators and visitors were detected on Niger blooms, making it possible to estimate their relative abundance. Amongst the pollinators/visitors, Apis cerana indica, Apis mellifera, Apis dorsata, Apis florea, Xylocopa violacea, Amata cyssea, Eristalinus megacephalus, Parnada guttatus, Danaus genutia, Zizina otis, Musca domestica. Throughout the blooming season, they were observed hanging out at the Niger flower.
