Abstract:
The information needs are common for both normal as well as Differently abled people. Just as normal people might read a newspaper, magazine, book etc. and listen to mobiles or other communication mediums, download electronic information from the Internet; similarly the differently abled people also want access to relevant information in their chosen accessible format. Government have a moral responsibility to make information available to all categories of users regardless of their gender, age, sex, race, political affiliation or disability. The advent of ICT has brought so many advantages to the differently abled persons. Assistive technology is one of such products to enable them to live in a maximum potential. Presently with the help of Information Communication Technology (ICT) it is possible to provide user friendly & adequate services for these special people who are neglected for long time. The present paper describes the information needs, highlights the special institutions and services that the libraries are expected to provide to differently abled people.
