Abstract:
The present investigation entitled, “Assessment of seed quality in quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.)” was conducted during Rabi 2018-2019 at Seed Technology Research Unit (STRU), Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri for laboratory observations were evaluated in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications and thirteen genotypes. The significant results for seed quality were recorded in the genotypes EC–507749 followed by EC–507747 and EC– 507743. Among the genotypes, the highest germination was recorded in the genotype EC–507749 (95.00%), vigour index I (1088.00), vigour index II (3324.33), shoot length (6.87 cm), root length (4.57 cm), dry matter content of seedlings (35.00 mg). The highest seed volume weight was observed in EC–507749 (7.40 g/10 ml) and it was also recorded lower moisture content (9.51%), electrical conductivity (0.15 dSm-1) and seed mycoflora (5.33%) among all the genotypes. It is concluded that the genotypes EC–507749 had better seed quality can be used for future breeding programme for development of high yielding genotype followed by EC–507747 and EC–507743.
