Abstract:
Methionine sulfoxide reductase A (MsrA) is an antioxidant enzyme that repairs the damaged proteins by converting the Methionine sulfoxide (MetO) into functionally active Methionine. This protein shows a protective role in spermatozoa survival and fertilization. Buffalo MsrA protein was previously reported by many researchers; however, their structural and physicochemical properties were not studied so far due to lack of complete annotation of the buffalo genome and 3D structures. In the present study, we annotated the structural features of the buffalo MsrA protein and performed the comparative analysis to predict the conserved sequence, structural and functional elements, motifs as well as physicochemical properties using manual data curations, high-end computational algorithms and structure analysis.
