Abstract:
An investigation was conducted to evaluate the 55 germplasm (45 F₁ and 10 parental lines) of tomato (Solanum lycopersicon L.) at Main Experimental Station, Department of Vegetable Science, A.N.D. University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya (U.P.) during the growing season 2020-2021 and 2021-2022. The experiment ware set up using a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Nineteen characters were included in the data including total fruit yield per plant. The result of this investigation showed that high heritability (h²ns) coupled with high genetic advance as per cent of mean were seen in plant height both the seasons and pooled and locules per fruit in Y_2. High estimates of heritability along with high genetic advance as per cent of mean provides a clear image to the breeders during the process of selection for improvement.
