Abstract:
A field experiment was carried out during kharif seasons of 2020-21 and 2021-22 at Agronomy Main Research Farm, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with six main plot treatments i.e. Soil test based nitrogen (100 kg N/ha), 75% N through soil test based nitrogen (STBN) + 25% N through FYM, 75% N through STBN + 25% N through vermicompost, N @ 20kg at basal and at LCC < 3, N @ 20kg at basal and at SPAD < 35 and no nitrogen to rice during kharif and three sub plot treatments i.e. lime @ 0.2 LR, gypsum @ 250 kg/ha and lime @ 0.2 LR + gypsum @ 250 kg/ha to groundnut during rabi each in three replications. Recommended doses of P2O5 and K2O @ 40 kg/ha each to rice and N- P2O5- K2O @ 20-40-40 kg/ha were applied to groundnut. The results revealed that application of 75% N through STBN + 25% N through vermicompost recorded maximum height (117.0 cm) and number of ear bearing tillers/m2 (271.5) at harvest followed by 75% N through STBN+ 25% N through FYM. Application of 75% N through STBN + 25% N through vermicompost recorded maximum dry matter accumulation(971.0 g/ m2) at harvest which was at par with 75% N through STBN+ 25% N through FYM (960.0 g/ m2) followed by LCC based treatment being at par with STBN.Maximum number of grains (121.6) and filled grains/panicle (108.7) in rice were recorded with 75% STBN + 25% N through vermicompost being at par with 75% STBN + 25% N through FYM and LCC based treatments respectively. Similarly, grain yield (5128 kg/ha), straw yield (5707 kg/ha) and harvest index (47.31%) of rice were found maximum in the treatment 75% STBN+ 25% N through vermicompost found at par with 75% STBN + 25% N through FYM followed by LCC based treatment being at par with the STBN and SPAD based nitrogen management treatments respectively.
