Amputation of fractured horn in a buffalo: A case report

Abstract:
The present case report is aimed to describe and document the surgical procedures, techniques of unilateral horn amputation and its outcome on six years old local breed buffalo that was referred to the veterinary dispensary, Betegeri, koppal district, Karnataka, India. Accordingly, the buffalo underwent thorough physical examination. Clinical observation was complete fracture with extensive bleeding. Unilateral dehorning was planned. The affected horn was amputated using embryotomy wire and the sinuses were thoroughly flushed using normal saline. Then, skin was sutured using the silk by cross mattress suture pattern. Animal showed uneventful recovery after 2 months.
