Abstract:
The ‘present effort made to evaluate interaction between bud fly infestation and total polyphenol content expressed in susceptible stage of linseed germplasm. The investigation was conducted at Instruction-cum-Research Farm, Directorate of Research Services and in the laboratory of Department of Entomology and Department of Crop Physiology, College of Agriculture, IGKV, Raipur. One hundred ninty-six linseed germplasms were collected from the AICRP-linseed unit Raipur and grown in rabi season at research-cum-instructional form IGKV, Raipur. Out of one hundred ninety-six germplasm lines screened against bud fly infestation, one twenty-five germplasm was found resistant to bud fly. Sixty-five germplasm lines were identified as moderately resistant and another five lines as moderately susceptible and neelum found susceptible to bud fly infestation. However, no any germplasm lines found highly susceptible to bud fly. Total thirty five lines of early, medium and late duration germplasm were selected for ferther investigation. The expression of total polyphenol content at susceptible stage for bud fly infestation were analyze simultaneously. The analysis resulted that total polyphenol in thirty-five germplasm lines were varied from 2.48 to 4.87 mg/g. The smallest amount of total polyphenol content was recorded on germplasm line CI-2556 i.e. 2.48 mg/g at 31.47 percent bud fly infestation whereas the highest amount of total polyphenol content was recorded on resistant germplasm line RSJ 31 i.e. 4.87 mg/g at 4.61 percent bud fly infestation. The correlation analysis of total polyphenol content and bud fly infestation was negatively significant with r value of 0.854 and regression equation y =-0.052x + 4.547, R = 0.73. Hence, it was observed that the amount of total polyphenol was comparatively more in resistant then to moderately resistant and moderately susceptible germplasm lines.
