Abstract:
Agriculture stands at the forefront of our nation's journey towards self-reliance, placing farmers at the core of this transformative endeavour. Government initiatives have consistently aimed at uplifting, empowering, and stabilizing farmers across technical, economic, and social dimensions. As the global population is projected to reach around 10 billion by 2050, agricultural demand is expected to surge by up to 50% compared to 2013 levels (FAO 2017, The future of Food and Agriculture– Trends and challenges). In light of these challenges and opportunities, there is a critical need for exploring methods that are ecologically sustainable and economically viable. Natural farming emerges as a promising approach, drawing on our rich traditional knowledge and utilizing locally available resources. This sustainable and viable agricultural practice is crucial in navigating the intricate landscape of modern agriculture. Titled Natural Farming: A Sustainable Practice for Enhanced Productivity and Environmental Conservation,' explores the potential of this transformative paradigm. This approach seamlessly integrates eco-friendly techniques with the pursuit of heightened productivity, showcasing a delicate synergy between human ingenuity and the natural environment. By prioritizing the conservation of soil health, water resources, and biodiversity, natural farming ensures not only abundant harvests but also lays the foundation for a resilient and sustainable agricultural future. Natural farming, with its emphasis on maximizing production factors such as labour, soil, and equipment, and its avoidance of non-natural inputs like fertilizers and pesticides, aims to increase yields while promoting environmental and economic sustainability. our exploration of natural farming highlights its potential to address the challenges posed by a growing global population and the increasing demand for agricultural products. By embracing this approach, we not only tap into our traditional wisdom but also pave the way for a future where agriculture is both bountiful and sustainable.
