Abstract:
The present study was aimed to know the haematological alterations due to individual toxicities of imidacloprid (IMI) and chlorpyrifos (CPF) and their combination in albino Wistar rats. A total of twenty four (24) adult male abino Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups each. The group 1 (control), group 2 treated with IMI (@ 10 mg/kg b. wt, P/O), group 3 administered with CPF (@ 7.5 mg/kg b.wt, P/O) and group 4 rats provided with IMI (@ 10 mg/kg b. wt, P/O) +CPF (@ 7.5 mg/kg b. wt, P/O). The experiment was carried out for a duration of 28 days and rats of each group were sacrificed on 29th day of the experiment. Haematological analysis revealed significantly (p<0.05) lower mean values of TEC, Hb and PCV in groups 2, 3 and 4 in comparison to control and in group 4 when compared to group 2 and 3 on the 29th day of experiment. TLC values were significantly (p<0.05) higher in groups 2, 3, 4 compared to that of control group and combined toxic group when compared to individual toxic groups.
