Abstract:
A field experiment was conducted at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Hyderabad to observe iron content in brown rice and polished rice of aerobic rice cultivars to varying levels of iron application. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design, comprising twelve treatment combinations of iron (S1 to S12) and three rice cultivars (M1, M2 and M3) which were repeated three times. Iron treatments include two sources of iron i.e., iron sulphate and iron chelate and their combinations like foliar application, soil application and combination of both soil and foliar applications. The results indicated that the cultivar KRH 2 seemed to accumulate more iron content in brown and polished rice than MTU 1010 and Tellahamsa. The grain iron content of rice cultivars increased with the application of iron fertilizer via the soil and foliar methods. In case of iron nutrition treatments, basal application of iron chelate @ 25 kg ha-1 + 3 foliar sprays of iron sulphate from 21 DAS @ 7 days interval registered maximum iron content.
