Abstract:
The purpose of the current research was to evaluate the general combining ability impacts of parents and the specific combining ability effects of hybrids for yield and yield-related features, as well as to investigate their utility in hybrid creation. The 45 single cross hybrids developed through line x tester (L × T) breeding method together with parents (15 L and 3 T) were examined for grain yield and its attributing in three different environments during kharif and rabi season 2017-18. Results from the investigation revealed that the estimates of GCA effect for grain yield per plant showed that inbred line L14 (24.04) exhibited maximum significant positive GCA on pooled basis and among the testers, T3 was considered as good general combiner for various morphological traits. The estimates of SCA effect among hybrid revealed that maximum significant SCA in positive direction for grain yield/plant were exhibited by hybrid L2×T3 (37.51) on the pooled basis.
