Abstract:
The present experiment was conducted during summer, 2019 at the Horticulture Research Scheme, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth Parbhani. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with 7 treatments; black, white, silver black, red, yellow polythene mulch, soyabean straw, and control with replicated three times. The result indicated to the maximum plant height was reported at in silver black polythene mulch (98.67cm), while lowest plant height was recorded in control (72.32cm). The maximum number of branches per plant in silver black polythene mulch (11.23), while minimum number of branches per plant was recorded in control (3.21). The maximum plant spread in East-West direction was recorded in silver black polythene mulch (93.45cm) and the maximum plant spread in North-South direction in silver black polythene mulch (91.32cm). The minimum days to first flowering (31.78days), were as days to 1st fruit set minimum (41.12days) was recorded in silver black polyethylene mulch while maximum in control. The maximum number of fruit per plant in silver black polythene mulch (26.75), while minimum number of number of fruit per plant was recorded in control (16.87). The maximum fruit length (7.82cm) and fruit girth (15.76 cm) was recorded in treatment silver black polyethylene mulch, as compare to control. The maximum fruit weight in silver black polythene mulch (84.12g), while minimum fruit weight was recorded in control (71.37g). The maximum number of picking (10.80) was observed in silver black polythene mulch, while minimum number of picking was recorded in control (8.82). The highest average yield per hectare (306.19qt/ha) was recorded in treatment silver black mulch, as compare to control.
