Abstract:
A field experiment with 79 genotypes was conducted to study the genetic divergence in mungbean germplasm at Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner during Kharif-2017. Significant differences were observed among genotypes for all 11 characters studied. These genotypes were grouped into 15 clusters which is indicating the existence of ample amount of genetic diversity in the germplasm and therefore signifying the scope of selection for genetic improvement of mungbean. The maximum intra cluster distance (145.87) was recorded for cluster IV followed by cluster II (105.50), cluster III (98.50), cluster XI (60.26) and cluster I (60.07), respectively; while highest inter cluster distance was observed between cluster III and cluster IX (2356.28). Therefore, genotypes belonging to diversified clusters may be used in hybridization programme for developing the high yielding varieties in mungbean.
