Abstract:
The field and laboratory experiment was conducted in Kharif 2016-18 on breeder seed of Asha variety of pigeon pea supplied by STR NSP in charge at New Dairy Farm of C.S.A. University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur to investigate the effect of seed polymer coating on growth and yield of pigeon pea. The experiment consisted of four seed treatment [T0: Control, T1: Polymer (Disco AGSP Red L-200) + Thiram + Carboxin, T2: Polymer (Disco AGSP Red L-200) + Thiram + Genius coat, T3: Polymer (DiscoAGSPRedL-200) + Thiram+ Quick Root] laid out in randomized block design with three replications. From the results, it can be concluded that seeds of Pigeon pea variety Asha treated with Thiram, Carboxin, Polymer coating and mycorrhiza seed can be stored safely for 10 months under ambient condition, and can be recommended for safe storage. Germination, Seedling length, Seedling dry weight, Seed Vigor Index-I & II, insect infestation and field observation were recorded.T1 [Polymer (Disco AGSP Red L-200) + Thiram + Carboxin] treatment showed better quality performance in laboratory and T3[Polymer (Disco AGSP Red L-200)+ Thiram + Quick Root] treatment showed better performance in field observation.
