Abstract:
The present study was performed to analyze the genotype x environment (G×E) interaction for fruit characters of 12 lines and 3 testers in three environments; Udaipur, Banswara and Chittorhgarh located at different agro-ecological zones of Rajasthan State. The Cucumis lines were grown in randomized complete block design in three replicates in 2014 cropping season. analysis of variance showed statistically significant effect of genotypes, environments and the genotype x environment interaction (P< 0.01%). This experiment was carried out for the three characters of fruit viz. fruit weight, fruit diameter and fruit length. Among the parents difference was also significant for all the characters in all the environments. All the three characters also interact significantly with environments. The mean square due to environments, genotypes, parents, crosses and parents Vs crosses were significant for all the characters. On the pooled basis the hybrid L3 × T3 (1385.67 g) exhibited maximum fruit weight and fruit diameter (11.82 cm) over the environments. the hybrid L6 × T2 exhibited maximum fruit length (34.30 cm) over the environment.
