Abstract:
The present investigation entitled “Study of correlation and path analysis in aromatic rice genotypes (Oryza sativa L.)” was undertaken during Kharif 2019. The experiment was carried out in Randomized block Design (RBD) with three replications to derive Correlation coefficient and Direct and Indirect effects in 15 different genotypes of aromatic rice. Association studies revealed that Plant height, number of tillers per plant, length of panicle (cm), total number of grains per panicle and straw yield per plant (g) shows positive correlation with grain yield per plant (g) at genotypic and phenotypic levels and spikelet fertility (%), test weight (g) and harvest index (%) shows negative correlation with grain yield per plant at genotypic and phenotypic levels. The characters which emerged as the major component of grain yield per plant (g) in path coefficient analysis was exerted by days 50% flowering, plant height (cm), number of tillers per plant, length of panicle (cm), total number of grains per panicle, spikelet fertility (%), test weight (g), grain yield per plant (g), straw yield per plant (g) and harvest index (%). which had highest direct effects on grain yield per plant at genotypic level and at phenotypic level.
