Path analysis for yield and attributing characters in brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)

Author(s):
SK Dhaka and AK Soni
Abstract:
Path analysis for fruit yield per plant and its component characters was studied in 20 genotypes of brinjal grown in Jobner, Rajasthan, India during the kharif season 2007. The highest positive direct effect on fruit yield per plant was exerted by the character average weight of fruit followed by number of fruits per plant. The maximum negative direct effect on fruit yield per plant was exerted by days taken to first picking followed by number of picking. The estimated residual effect at genotypic level was equal to 0.26 and at phenotypic levels it was equal to 0.31.
